How to Measure your Dog for a Harness.
“Measuring a dog for a harness is a simple matter of sketching an imaginary harness on the dog’s body.”
Before you Start
Use a soft measuring tape.
Be sure the dog is standing square and level with head up and legs
square, and be sure the dog’s back is not hunched or roached.
Measure the dog, not the fur.
Weigh your dog if possible.
Proper measurements are very important!! Measure twice to be sure!
Provide dog’s name if you wish it added on the harness at no charge.
DO NOT pull the tape tight or the measurement will be short.
If you have ANY questions about measuring, feel free to call or email us!
MEASURING:
Follow these three 3 steps to get a harness that is a perfect
"Fit" for your Dog!
|
1 - NECK - Measure from the top of the breastbone
in the front of the dog to the point of the withers
(base of the neck). Measure one side only and
double it for the measurement. |
|
2 - LAST RIB - Measure from the top of the breastbone,
down between the front legs and up the side of the
dog diagonally towards the base of the tail (draw a
harness on the dog). Take the measurement just
behind the last rib (behind the rib cage) as shown. |
|
3 - LENGTH - Hold the tape at the last rib and continue
on the same line to the base of the tail. Be careful
not to measure too long or the harness will pull
down over the hips and restrict movement. |
WHEN ORDERING HARNESSES, please provide measurements as:
* Neck
* Length
* Last Rib
Also provide the Dog’s Name if you wish it sewn on.
Providing Dog’s Breed, build and weight is helpful for us to determine
if your measurements are correct. If we have a question on the accuracy of
your measurements, we will contact you. Some harnesses made to
“off standard” measurements may not be returnable.
A short instructional video tape is available for $5.00 if you want further
directions on measuring your dog(s). You can order this from the "Harnesses"
category of the "Products" menu.
