How to Measure your Dog for an
Urban Trail Harness
-OR-
 Alpine Performance Hybrid Harness

“Measuring a dog for a harness is a simple matter of sketching an imaginary harness on the dog’s body.”

Before you Start
Use a soft measuring tape. Be sure the dog is standing square and level with head up and legs square, and be sure the dog’s back is not hunched or roached. Measure the dog, not the fur. Weigh your dog if possible. Proper measurements are very important!! Measure twice to be sure! Provide dog’s name if you wish it added on the harness at no charge. DO NOT pull the tape tight or the measurement will be short. If you have ANY questions about measuring, feel free to call or email us!

MEASURING:

Study the pictures below, and write down each measurement on a scrap of paper -- then measure again!  If the numbers do not match closely - then keep measuring until you get consistent measurements.

WHEN ORDERING HARNESSES, please provide measurements as:

#1 Neck _________
From the Top of the Breastbone in the front of the dog to the base of the neck at the top . Measure one side and double it.

#2 Mid-Rib___________
From the Top of the Breastbone in the front of the dog, down between the front legs and to the mid point of the rib cage (on the belly of the dog)

#3 Around Dog (Circumference)________
Measure around the WIDEST part of the dog.

#4 (for Performance Hybrid Only) - Topline ________
From the base of the neck to the base of the tail on the topline of the dog.

Also provide the Dog’s Name if you wish it sewn on.

Providing Dog’s Breed, build and weight is helpful for us to determine if your measurements are correct. If we have a question on the accuracy of your measurements, we will contact you. Some harnesses made to “off standard” measurements may not be returnable.
